We all know that moving home can be an incredibly stressful time. We want to help make your move all about making memories in your new home and eliminate any stresses! Luckily for you, we have collated our top 5 tips for making home moving a breeze…

  1. Devise a Checklist

Our first tip sounds like a simple step that we’re sure you have already started to take. However, how many times have we made a list and forgotten something important? We suggest creating a list for each room. Take your list and walk around each part of your home and note down everything you need to pack in order of importance, this will also help you to declutter in the process. After all, the last thing you want is for your lovely, comfy sofa to be the final item moved into your beautiful new lounge as you will definitely need somewhere to relax for a little while on move in day.

  1. Pack a “Comfort Box”

When you’re packing all of your items and dismantling those heavy pieces of furniture, it is so easy to forget the little things. And, as the saying goes, it is often the little things that count! We suggest packing everything that you would take for a 1 night stay away from home: change of clothes, essential toiletries, phone and technology chargers and anything else that will help you settle in such as your favourite book or candle.

  1. Arrange for your Bills and Utilities to be Transferred

This is likely to be a task that you are putting off, let’s face it we all dread having to organise our utilities, taxes and insurance, don’t we? Take it from us though, it feels so good to be sat in your new home knowing that the heating will be on to keep you cosy and you can access your favourite tv show to settle down and watch on your first night in! Also, it frees up a lot of time you can spend getting your new home looking its best.

  1. Ask for Help!

Don’t be a hero. You will only realise how many items you have accumulated in your home when it comes to packing them all up and taking them to your new home. So, if someone offers to help you move, even if it's just collecting boxes for you or watching your little ones, take them up on it!

  1. Create a Budget

As well as being stressful, moving into your new home can be expensive. Does your new home need a fresh lick of paint and new carpets before you unpack? Don’t forget to budget for them. Also, you are likely to have larger items that you can’t pack and transport in your own vehicles, so make sure that you have set some money aside to either get help from experienced removal companies or to hire a van to take your items yourself.

We are with you every step of the way! Aside from our fantastic 5 top tips, we have experienced staff who are on hand to help you with the sale of your home and the move to your new home.
